In need of some attention

My son is at university in York and I have been staying at this hotel when I visit. Whilst they may have put some new wallpaper up it doesn’t make up for the decline in cleanliness, upkeep, or service.
There used to be a fridge in each room - a factor in my choice to continually return as I need to keep medication in the fridge. There were also robes and slippers for going down to the pool. Now there’s a whole where the fridge was, loads of dust, and shoddy workmanship. We were in a room that got hotter and hotter but we couldn’t open the windows because of the heat pump fan things and the kitchen vents below.
Despite paying for parking we weren’t able to get a car parking space!
Staff were dismissive and unhelpful.
This will be my last visit.

Nice stay over the bank holiday weekend. There was an issue with key cards but the reception were very helpful coming up to the room every single time we wanted to access the room for the first day.
Pool facilities were great and very clean. Would recommend and would stay again.

We had a great stay with our 5yo son. He adored the pool! Our room was large and had all we needed. The hotel is close to the city centre so a great location. Staff were super friendly. Bar food was good too

Mostly ok, but very noisy.

My wife and I have just returned from a few days away in York where we had the experience of staying at the Delta on Tadcaster Road.
First impressions were not great, I don't know whether my wife was aware or not but when we arrived there are signs everywhere demanding that you pay for parking, so an extra £7 / day is needed to leave your car in the hotel car park.
Given that parking management is subcontracted to Parking Eye, and that the frequent and less than complimentary reports in news media about the organisation, I coughed up immediately not wishing to fall foul of their less than reasonable policies and practices.
The hotel itself is rather nice, certainly nothing egregious about it from first impressions. Staff were efficient and helpful and mostly very friendly.
Our room was spacious, clean and well equipped, and had everything one could want or need for a few days stay.
The bathroom seemed a little on the ordinary side for a hotel which markets itself as better than your Premier Inn and Ibis hotels, it felt a little stark and plain. That stated, it did everything a bathroom should do and it's not like you spend any more time in there than you absolutely need to.
The bed wasn't uncomfortable - that's about the best way I can describe it. It was functional and that's about it really, unlike some hotel beds we've used that beckon you into a deep and plush slumber every time you look at them, this one was just an ok place to sleep. In the same way, the duvet/comforter was thin and not particularly comforting, although it wasn't cold at night having a thick duvet wrapped round you is something I really enjoy and I just didn't feel the same quality of sleep with a thin, barely there duvet.
The pillows, however, were lovely - if the bed and blankets were on par with the pillows then everything would have been about perfect.
The one thing that did spoil our stay was the noise from other guests, and the paper thin walls between the rooms. We are not late sleepers by any stretch of the imagination, but being woken up by other guests going about their business is not really what you'd expect from a hotel of this class.
Seriously, everything that goes on in rooms adjacent and above is clearly heard. If other guests went to the bathroom, took a shower, ran a bath, did a number two then we heard it. Every conversation was clearly heard, every door opening and closing (often slamming, mind you) was audible. If you turned on a light switch we go to hear it and if you thought you were being discreet when you were doing the horizontal bedroom wrestling, sorry to tell you, my wife and I heard everything.
So trying to have an extra hours sleep in the morning was akin to trying to sleep in the middle of St Pancras Station - there was just so much going on, so many people coming and going through the corridors and so much din from the other rooms and so many doors opening and slamming shut throughout the hotel, and so little sound proofing, that any kind of peaceful slumber after 6:30 in the morning was impossible.
The last thing to mention is the pool area - that's really quite nice and contains a main pool, a shallow pool for the little ones, a large jacuzzi as well as a sauna and steam room.
Slight negatives, the jacuzzi seems to be on a short timer, so while it's very warm the bubbles don't last long before they turn off and everyone is just sat round either looking for a way to turn them back on, or waiting for the timer to kick back in and provide bubbles once more.
The pool is a decent temperature but isn't massive so get a few people in there and swimming becomes quite difficult.
The steam room is quite small and not very warm as steam rooms go. The sauna is really warm but is quite tiny, even smaller than the steam room.
There's also a gym adjacent to the pool area but we didn't use that so cannot comment on how well equipped it is.
It's also worth mentioning that a short walk down Tadcaster Road is a lovely pub called the Fox and Roman. The food and service there is excellent and it's well worth a visit, but if you intent on eating then probably worth booking a table in advance as it seems quite busy.
Opposite the hotel there is a bus stop serviced by regular busses that will take you straight into York for £3.00, or if you're feeling a bit more adventurous you can catch the coastline bus to Whitby or Scarborough, also only £3.00.
So, in summary, an ok place to stay if you can deal with the noise. Perhaps not quite as salubrious as it tries to be, but in quite a good location.

Good afternoon,
Thank you for your feedback.
Firstly, we're pleased to hear that you found our team efficient and helpful, and that your room met the expectations for cleanliness and amenities.
We are sorry to hear however, that aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations.
In regards to the parking, we understand your concern and we appreciate your feedback. While parking is managed by a third party we do our best to ensure all signage is clear, and we'll pass on your feedback.
Your comment regarding the comfort of the bed, the quality of the duvet and the noise are taken seriously. We are sorry that your rest was disturbed.
Once again, thank you for your feedback and I hope you choose to stay with us again when your travels bring you back to the area.
Kind regards,
Margo
