Paradise in Bunaken
Our stay at Panorama Backpackers Bunaken was truly one of the highlights of our trip. From the moment we arrived, we felt incredibly welcome. Sylvia and her entire team are exceptionally kind, warm, and always willing to help.
The location is stunning. The beach is beautiful, and the house reef right in front of the resort is absolutely breathtaking. We were lucky enough to see sea turtles, colorful coral reefs, reef sharks, and countless tropical fish— an unforgettable experience just a few steps from our room.
The diving was excellent as well. We hadn't been diving for quite some time, but the dive instructors were incredibly patient and professional. They carefully went through all the important skills with us again, making us feel safe and confident. We couldn't have asked for better instructors.
The food was delicious throughout our stay, with plenty of variety every day. Evenings were especially enjoyable, with everyone gathering for dinner, creating a wonderful sense of community among guests. The relaxed beach bar was the perfect place to end the day.
Our room was always clean and comfortable. Although there was no air conditioning, the fan and natural sea breeze made it comfortable.
One thing we especially appreciated was how helpful everyone was beyond our stay at the resort. Sylvia's brother even helped us plan a large part of our onward journey, and everything worked out perfectly. That level of hospitality is something we will never forget.
Of course, Bunaken is a small island with limited infrastructure. Many supplies — including drinking water —have to be transported to the island by ferry, so it's worth keeping that in mind. Considering these logistical challenges, the team does an outstanding job and provides an incredible experience.
The only thing we would do differently next time is book a room with a sea view — simply because that's about the only way we can imagine making this stay even better!
Overall, Panorama Backpackers Bunaken is a little paradise. Our stay was far too short, and we would recommend it without hesitation to anyone looking for amazing diving, beautiful nature, delicious food, genuine hospitality, and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. We can't wait to come back.

Too bad they don't know how to exploit the potential of the location
The location would also be nice but the cleanliness leaves much to be desired. There is no hot water and sometimes there is not even water. The beach is also cleaned but garbage is collected and not disposed of. To get to the structure you have to face a staircase of 117 steps.

We had a great time here!
We really enjoyed our stay with the lovely familiy of Lucy. The organisation was perfect (thanks to Olivia!). We had a room with balcony and see view, it is rather simpel inside, but clean and you don‘t need more. The food was always really good, only breakfast is very basic. Diving with panorama divers and the experienced team of Sven (from germany) was great. The house reef was fantastic for snorkeling – clear blue water and lots of fish, corals and sooooo many turtles! For divers it was not far to go for different places to see more – it is really worth to dive here! We had great visuability (end of december). Wonderful sunset at the beach bar – with cats and dogs. When the weather is windy you might have rubbish at the beach that comes from Manado. After cleaning its nice again. We had a great time and love to come back! Petra @ Götz from germany.

Peaceful and good value stay in Bunaken
Bunaken backpackers is excellently located on its own private beach on the calm side of the island away from the town. Sylvia was very helpful in arranging transfers to and from the island which were hassle free. When staying there we had everything we needed provided, with excellent meals, free fruit and water, tea and coffee. We stayed in the sea view twin room with three beds, which was spacious with a lovely balcony. The hotel offers a variety of activities, with brilliant diving and snorkeling options to join on the diving boat, and a wonderful dolphin tour. Sven, the dive instructor, was calm and very knowledgeable and did his best to meet divers needs. The overall atmosphere was sociable yet relaxed with lots of friendly guests. In the rooms, there was no running water in the middle part of the day but this returned in the evening. The bar on the beach would often play music. Payment is by cash or Wise only so make sure you are covered before you arrive (no ATMs on Bunaken). Overall a fantastic stay which was great value for money.
