Phenomenal Lodge and Excursions
We had AMAZING experience at Mbeliling
ecolodge with excursions booked through their parent company via reservation.ecosafari@ecolodgesindonesia.com. They helped us build a custom itinerary that matched our interests and active lifestyle. On the first day, they picked us up from our hotel in Labuan Bajo and drove us ~1hr to the ecolodge where we dropped our luggage before continuing on to Cunca Rami, a beautiful hidden waterfall where we were the only tourists and could swim in the pool at the bottom. It was a 1.5 hour drive on good roads and then a ~25 min easy hike to the waterfall. Then, we drove another hour or two on very bumpy roads to the crater lake, where we ate a delicious “lunchbox” of grilled chicken, rice, and sautéed veggies by the crystal blue lake and boiled eggs in the hot spring. The next day was more lowkey, we went bird watching and saw 17 different species, our favorites being the red cheeked parrot and white rumped kingfisher. We also went to Melo Village and learned about traditional Flores culture. They have a wide variety of activities, we just chose the jungly ones because we planned to spend time at a coastal hotel as well. The staff were amazing, very gracious and knowledgeable, and the food at the lodge was delicious with a beautiful view to enjoy while eating. The bungalows were very clean, comfortable, and private, with hot water and laundry service. There was no air conditioning but the temperature in the mountains was perfect and we slept amazing (coming from the US where AC is a staple). Overall, we loved our time at the ecolodge and would highly recommend - it was phenomenal value for price and a wonderful experience overall.

Charming Lodge in the Woods
Charming lodge in the woods with a view of the Komodo islands. Proverbial hospitality from a young and very courteous team. Lodges are spotlessly clean and comfortable, up to three people.
We stayed as a family and spent two days taking wonderful walks in the woods to see waterfalls and the scenery. Aldi is an outstanding guide and knows everything about the local flora and fauna. Check out his Instagram to see for yourself.
We always ate our meals on site, because the dishes are freshly prepared and all delicious. We also really appreciated that at an altitude of about 550m above sea level, the temperatures are lower than on the beaches, and there are also far fewer mosquitoes! Something very important.
I do recommend spending a few days at the Lodge if you want to get away from the crowds at the beaches and, above all, enjoy the woods, the birds, and the local flora.

Absolutely Amazing!!!
Just returned from a 15 day eco safari and cannot say enough good things about our experience. This lodge was our first stop and the views from our room were nothing short of spectacular ! The room was great, the food very good - shout out to the restaurant staff who were amazing!! respectful, accommodating and absolutely lovely. The snorkeling and komodo island was a highlight !! absolutely fantastic. The only recommemdation I would make is to schedule in a few washroom breaks. My deepest respect for our driver - the road to the lodge is probably the most twisted I have EVER been on and it was disconcerting ... however our driver handled it expertly and we never felt unsafe - our deepest respect! Our guide was fantastic ! Thank you for such an amazing trip!

A stay to remember
I had a wonderful 3 nights at Mbelling Eco-Lodge. Without my own transport, I spent a great 2 days - walking to the nearby waterfall (10-15 minutes) and a day walking along the Trans Flores Highway marvelling at everything along the way.
The room had all the comforts I needed and felt much more modern and recently furnished than many other places I've stayed in Indonesia. It was very atmospheric. It's more rustic (and beautifully so) than luxurious. It was simple but very comfortable with stunning views up to Mt Mbelling and down to the coast. The gardens are beautiful.
The staff are quietly very friendly, welcoming and helpful (as are many Indonesians). I'm particularly grateful to Riku and Aldi. When my driver for the return trip to Labuang Bajo (not from the lodge) didn't turn up, they were very helpful. They stayed with me on the highway, identified and waved down cars that might be able to drive me back to LB, and negotiated a price for me.
I'll happily remember my stay for a very long time.
