Lack of air conditioners and cleanliness

It is impossible in 2026 not to have air conditioning; they only have fans that blow hot air. The bathrooms are very often not really clean.

Pay and they dont let you in

Absolutely terrible. Dont pay anything for this hotel. Dont let you in after a certain time and when question this they start being funny on the phone.

Don't recommend!

I do not recommend it to anyone who plans to come back in the evening!
The owner locks the door at night. We couldn't get in and sleep the whole night! I have never seen this situation all over trip in Europe!
it's a terrible experience to stay on the sidewalk all night.

Single room

I booked a room 5 days ago, it was very dirty, shower cubicles are not cleaned!
Hotel managers SMOKE all the time, so the whole apartment smells like a cigarette.
There was no duvet cover in my room and lid was very thin.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!

I had the absolute worst experience at Star Hostel in Milan, and I feel compelled to warn others to NEVER stay there. The staff was unfriendly, unkind, and downright rude. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was cold and dismissive. Instead of offering any help or welcoming us, the staff treated us as if we were an inconvenience.
We were late by just 10 minutes leaving our room, and the staff immediately started commenting on our personal time in a harsh and unprofessional manner. They were extremely rude and showed no understanding or empathy. It felt like they were more focused on enforcing strict rules than treating their guests with respect.
To make things worse, they even refused to let us use the common area after checkout, which is a basic courtesy at most hostels. It honestly felt like they were treating us as though we were in a jail, not a place meant for travelers to relax and enjoy their time.
The worst part came when we were leaving — the staff actually shut the door violently on us, which was completely unnecessary and uncalled for.
I cannot stress this enough – please avoid this hostel at all costs. There are plenty of better places in Milan where you can feel respected and enjoy your stay. This place left us with a terrible experience, and I would strongly advise anyone to steer clear of Star Hostel in Milan for their own peace of mind.
