Tucked away in a quiet corner at the end of a winding and narrow road is this lovely ryokan. We enjoyed the hospitality, the fantastic food, and the serenity of being by the seaside.

Very Japanese wood made hotel and price with dinner and breakfast is a bargain. The hot spring bath is big plus. Make sure to check in before too dark as no street lights to the hotel. Beautiful water front for all day and evening. Great services. Rooms are much larger than those in the city Nagoya.

Peaceful and secluded

We spent two nights here, and it's a lovely, quiet spot, right by the sea with a lovely view out over the bay. Our room was large, clean, and had a balcony and great view. We had dinner there one night, and it was very good - a large variety of fresh seafood, all served by the charming staff. The breakfast on both days was also very good and plentiful. The cypress baths were great, and the outdoor one was lovely. A friendly, relaxed place, and just a ten minute drive to nearby town (we came by train, and rented a car there).

Magic

Hiogiso is our best memory in Japan where we stayed for 3 weeks. We loved the place, the meals, the kindness of the staff, who really took care of us and were so smiley. We slept well, the room was comfortable, well equipped and spacious. The view was also incredible. The establishment is on the water so there are lots of crabs coming and going outside, it's lovely. The meals were incredible. We really enjoyed the sunset boat trip with the owner of the establishment. A charming, very classy man who spoke English quite well. We regret not having stayed longer because there are many places to visit around. Maybe next time...

Excellent, must try

We have been in Japan often and This is the best half board onsen hotel we Ever had.
Location near supermarket, outdoor onsen view was great, especially in the morning. Food was excellent, we stayed for 2 nights had different types of JAPANESE food, the second day was BBQ. Too much food with good quality. There is massage chair in the onsen lobby which you can use after hot springs which was thoughtful.
One disadvantage which I have to say will be there are around 3 mins road to the hotel which is very narrow, need to drive carefully. Otherwise it’s the best hotel and good value for money.
