Modern Hotel but far from City Centre
We stayed 3 nights at the Moxy. The staff are wonderful at the hotel. At checkin we were given tokens for 2 drinks plus another gift bag with additional drink tokens at the bar. The checkin experience was very good. We were upgraded to a king suite with 2 additional twin beds. The room was extremely spacious and comfortable. My only complaint would be an extra chair in the room. The bathroom/ shower was a little small but functional.
The hotel is a good 35 minute walk to the downtown area. The hotel charges $20 per day parking.
Because of the expensive Banff parking rates $8 / hr in April but increased to $12/hr may 1 we walked to city centre. A flat rate of $50 / day city parking in April.
The hotel is at the furthest end of Banff ave to get to city center. There is a city bus that stops in front of Moxys that goes to all the sites in Banff if you don’t want to walk.
The hotel Lobby is spacious with a long bar for drinks and a food truck which prepares fresh breakfast and lunch items. Overall our stay was really good and we got our exercise with all the walking to city centre.

Kind, welcoming Moxy team, Thankyou!
We had a wonderful stay at the Moxy Banff and would absolutely recommend it! From the moment we arrived, everyone on the staff was incredibly kind, welcoming, and friendly, making us feel right at home.
The hotel itself has such a fun and unique atmosphere. We absolutely loved the retro ski chalet aesthetic—it has a charming 60s/70s vibe with so many thoughtful vintage touches throughout the property. The décor gives the hotel so much personality and made it a memorable place to stay.
Our room was comfortable, clean, and well-appointed, and we really enjoyed the amenities. The location was also fantastic, making it easy to explore Banff and everything the area has to offer.
The only small suggestion we have is regarding the bathroom door. The frosted glass/see-through design doesn't offer as much privacy as we would have liked, especially when traveling as a couple. Aside from that one minor detail, our stay was excellent.
I also want to give a special thank you to the hotel staff for their incredible kindness and flexibility. I had a very important job interview during our stay, and they made sure our room was ready in time. When I realized the lighting in our room wasn't ideal for a video interview, they graciously offered me the use of their meeting room instead. Their willingness to accommodate me helped take so much stress off my shoulders, and I truly appreciated their thoughtfulness and exceptional customer service. It meant more than they probably realize.
Thank you to the entire Moxy team for such a fantastic experience. We would happily stay here again on our next trip to Banff!

Fun Rooms with Young Children
Almost anywhere in the world I would pick a Fairmont hotel over a Moxy brand hotel but Banff is a very unique situation. First of all, Banff is the most expensive hotel market in all of Canada based on average year-round rates, and the double whammy is that Banff is also very seasonal with cheap prices in spring and autumn but very expensive in winter and summer. In addition, as far as I know this Moxy happens to be the most expensive Moxy in the entire world on average (more expensive than Santa Barbara or the two in NYC), and even more so, during high season. If they were aligned with the brand (bare bones), then it would not work for us, but thankfully they have some features which are full service. Also the rooms are definitely not bare bones. The entry level room is 24 sqm which is more than Fairmont Banff 18 sqm so if I expect no upgrade at all due to high season at either hotel then Moxy does not seem so bad in comparison despite being much cheaper than the iconic Fairmont. In addition, for family travel the Moxy rooms 2 queen beds are fun and ideal with young children because the beds face each other. Our youngest daughter loved going back and forth as she wished. It also makes the room seem more spacious than it really is due to the bed positioning.
At Fairmont we would have had lounge access as Accor Diamond and therefore breakfast every day. Normally Moxy does not give free breakfast to Bonvoy Ambassador Elite guests but thankfully they made an exception and gave us vouchers for breakfast which was a nice gesture.
Also between the welcome drinks and various drink vouchers plus daily Food & Beverage vouchers we had enough for 14 cocktails + 2 mocktails in 4 days so for happy hour at Moxy we had no food but plenty of drinks, whereas at Fairmont we normally have food but no (free) drinks in the Gold lounge.
Moxy costs a fraction of Fairmont so it's not entirely a fair comparison but based on what I have seen, no knock on Fairmont, but I was satisfied of the offering at Moxy and I would come back.
At Fairmont we would have had lounge access as Accor Diamond and therefore breakfast every day. Normally Moxy does not give free breakfast to Bonvoy Ambassador Elite guests but thankfully they made an exception and gave us vouchers for breakfast which was a nice gesture.

Great Marriott brand option in Banff
Family of 4 stay in Banff to kick off our week in Alberta. Decent location - we enjoyed being close enough to town but not right in where all the crowds were. We took the bus and walked to/ from town and both are great options. The bus stops often and gets full, you can get there in similar time walking. Check in was a breeze and parking was easy! Moxy lobby has live music, food truck food and free tokens for drinks. Drinks were so-so. Pool and hot tub looked nice but we didn’t use it. Room was spacious and accommodating - had king bed and four bunk beds. Shower was separate from toliet. Nice mini fridge and kitchen sink. Beds were comfortable and shower did the job. Wish there was an actual blanket on the beds rather than thin duvet with no weight. A little pricey for a Moxy but a great Marriott option for loyals. I would stay here again.

Well designed and very friendly.
I'm a Hyatt loyalist but was staying with a Marriott titanium friend. I don't think there's much by way of room upgrades as it's a small property. But it was absolutely fabulous!!! A really fun lobby and check in area with friendly people and bartenders. So much decor and tasteful games everywhere and even a "locker room" for luggage and keys. The rooms were adorable too. Fell in love with this place instantly. Even the hot tub pool and fireplaces. I was smiling from ear for ear so I had to come write this review. I always like to leave one con so people know I'm being transparent and truthful... the usb c plug near my bed (props for it not being A) didn't work. But all the other outlets did. No big! Top tier little property here. Design on point.
