Owner's mother is a nightmare!!
I stayed here as a group of 4 girls.
The location was OK although we didn't like Split as a town and would not return when there are so many wonderful places in Croatia to visit. It is up 2 flights of stone steps so beware if you have heavy bags!
The beds were very uncomfortable, we were in a 8 bed room despite paying for a 6 bed room. The hostel sleeps 28 people but there are just 2 bathrooms! The bathrooms have a shower and a toilet so in the morning you had to join a long Q of people showering just to use the toilet!
The best thing was the communal atmosphere (albeit smoky) as everyone was united against the owner's mother!! She took our deposit from us and demanded more than the price (expensive for Croatia) her daughter had quoted the day before and when we queried this she shouted in our faces and threatened to call the police. Her shouting woke up others in the hostel and in a final vindictive act when WE threatened to call the police on her as she was withholding our passports she forced us to pay in Euros with an exchange rate very much in her favour! She left us very upset and felt the need to draw other guests into the argument as she became increasingly frustrated at our apparent 'stupidity' at not wanting to pay extra money to her.
I would not consider staying here again even without the argument it was overpriced and uncomfortable and needs more toilets!!
Enjoy Croatia, don't miss Dubrovnik and Hvar.

Awful, do not stay here!
We booked this hostel through a hostel booking website. We had transport issues and were late arriving, which we informed the hostel of by phone and confirmed in an email.
When we did arrive in Split, the owners mother refused the let us in, yelled and abused us in Croatian and English, even though we had a booking.
It was advertised as no curfew which was untrue, and the place was absolutely filthy and stunk of cigarettes. We left quite promptly. We demanded our deposit back but she refused so we told her would not go until she gave it to us which she eventually did, throwing the money at us.
Afterwards, we contacted the owner (as she wasnt there when we arrived) and we complained. She was extremely rude and was threatning to charge our credit card if we posted a bad review or complained to the hostel booking website.
I would definitely not reccomend anyone book or stay at this hostel!
They were charging us 40 Euros for the night and we stayed at a place called the Bellevue Hotel instead, which was the same price and much nicer.
