Old and very good

An old but incredibly charming hotel with a lot of history in its walls. The decor is classic and carries the mark of the hotel’s age, but everything appears well-maintained and in no way worn. Here you get the feeling of true tradition and atmosphere, while the comfort is taken care of in a very good way.
The kitchen was simply lovely, with high-quality food and a pleasant restaurant experience. What probably made the biggest impression was the warm and fantastic welcome we received upon arrival – rarely you meet such friendly and welcoming staff.
The hotel also has very good parking options with many free parking spaces available. The only thing we missed was the possibility of electric car charging, as we did not find any chargers in the area.
The location is also very convenient, with a short drive to Bergen, making the hotel a perfect option if you want a quieter environment without being far from the city.
We got a large and spacious room with an impressive hot tub that easily accommodated at least two people – an extra luxurious detail that made the stay even better.
Overall a hotel that is really worth a try if you appreciate charm, good food, pleasant service and relaxing surroundings.

Incredibly little for the money, but great prayer home feeling

More tired hotel for the money you will actually look for long. It was surprisingly expensive to be a wall-to-wall carpet hotel.
The rooms, equipped with the latest furniture from the prayer houses of the 80s, leave no doubt that you could probably find a better alternative for a more affordable money. With the sound of the water-borne furnaces from the Middle Ages, sleep is guaranteed to be interrupted 5-6 times an hour. If you want it to be a little warmer than the freeze point, of course. Maybe they thought it was a penguin who was supposed to have my room since the window was wide open, and who it probably had done in the last 12 hours.
Pro tips: Sit in the bathroom while waiting for the heat in the room.
And it may well be that they upper gamet on breakfast during the summer season, but it is possibly one of the least inviting breakfasts I have paid so much for. But the interior they will get a little shout for, not because it was good, but because they have really permeated the prayer house style. It is well done to have so conducted bad taste. You should believe given the prices of accommodation here out in Nobody's Land that they could put a 50-lapp or two in the renovation.

If you are really lucky with your stay, then you may also find someone who works there. I wasn't so lucky. I had to go into the kitchen, after waiting, waiting and waiting, to find them. Was also by the front desk, but they had also hid. Fortunately, they had extremely stiff prices on the à la carte menu. It helped after all ... The feeling of being a desirable guest is so absolutely not present, it seems more like we are concerned. And I understand that, since people have to “work”.
Would review the cat board which is next door.

Bad experience from check-in to check-out

The stay started badly already at check-in. There was a long wait without information, and we finally had to call the hotel for help. We also did not get information in advance that a wedding party was to be held at the hotel during our stay.
The room lay on the ceiling and seemed as enclosed, with the smell of old. The hotel has wall-to-wall carpets, which reinforced the impression. Just outside the window stood a kitchen fan that made a lot of noise. We took this up immediately upon check-in, but got notified that it was not possible to change rooms.
As if this wasn't enough, the room lay right above the party rooms. After the party was over, we had a few hours of rest before the ventilation system started again. Even with earplugs it was impossible to get a good night's sleep.
At check-out we complained about the conditions and got around 10% discount. And yes, we had to call to get in touch with the hotel at check-out too....
We also sent a written complaint the following Monday, but never received a reply. Lack of follow-up further weakened the impression of the hotel.
Afterwards, we read a previous review where someone joked that the cat board next door might have been a better option. After that night, we understood what they meant. It is difficult to understand that rooms 400 are offered paying guests in its current form.

Nice place, nice people, quiet stay with good breakfast.

I was there in September, a quiet period. The staff was very friendly, I should mention that first. The owner and two female employees were all very courteous. The hotel used to have better days, but I hope it will be uphill again soon. The location is secluded but equally very good. You can take your car or walk to a supermarket. There is also a bus stop at the supermarket. I had a burger there one evening: this was in my opinion on the expensive side for what I got. However, I was very pleased with the breakfast; this was very good, especially the shrimp salad.
The room was a bit corny and in the furniture there were some cigarette burns. It is a big hotel, a pity it has fallen into disrepair: it looks very clean though and I hope the owner will make something nice of it to make it modern again.
If I am in the area of Alver again I will definitely have breakfast or stay overnight! Thanks again to the friendly staff.

No thanks.

Tullete expensive. When you have to pay 150,- for a 0.4 beer, which is the same as the most expensive places at Aker Brygge in Oslo and they require 150,- in CC (which you also do not do in Oslo). Of course there will be no trip here again. Too rude of the owners.
