Amazing Family Holiday – So Glad We Didn't Cancel!
Party: Family of 4 (Kids aged 5 & 11)
Room: Junior Suite with Spa Access
I was so dubious about booking this hotel and checked the reviews constantly, debating several times whether to switch. I am SO glad we didn’t.
While I’d rate it closer to a 3-star plus rather than a true 4-star, we had the most amazing time and none of us wanted to leave!
Check-In & First Impressions
We arrived around 11:00 AM, and to our delight, our room was ready early (check-in is usually 2:00 PM). The reception staff were friendly and helpful, directing us to scan a QR code for information on hotel facilities and the All-Inclusive package.
The Room & Balcony
We were blown away by our Junior Suite—it was spotlessly clean with nice, modern decor. The highlight was a humongous sea-view balcony equipped with two sun loungers, a sofa, and a daybed. It was the biggest balcony I’ve ever seen with tons of space.
> A note on noise: Our room overlooked the Veronica's strip, which had made us nervous after reading other reviews. While you can hear a slight thumping noise at night, the balcony doors do a fantastic job of blocking out sound, and it didn't keep any of us awake.
>
Pool & Facilities
* Sunbeds: Finding sunbeds was never an issue at any time of day, even with the hotel at 98% capacity! At 1:00 PM on our first day, we easily found three together.
* Pools & Staff: Great size pools with daily activities. The entertainment staff work tirelessly to keep everyone happy.
Food & Drinks
* The Restaurant: There’s no greeter, so you just seat yourself (we always found a table easily). Waitstaff were quick to take drinks orders—contrary to other reviews, we were easily able to order second drinks during meals without any issues.
* Food Variety: There was plenty of choice and everything was surprisingly delicious, even if some dishes didn't look high-end at first glance. They have two live cooking stations (one for meats like steak, lamb, and chicken; one for seafood like prawns, cod, and tuna).
* For the Kids: Our kids stuck strictly to a "beige diet" (chips, spaghetti, chicken nuggets), but they were completely happy!
* Pool Bar: This was the only slight letdown. Service was quite slow (20+ minute wait at times). The cocktails are pre-mixed and sweet (you won't get drunk on them, but they’re pleasant), and the wine at dinner was lovely.
Entertainment
* Kids' Disco: A massive hit with our 5-year-old, who loved dancing and making friends.
* Evening Shows: A bit hit-or-miss depending on the night, but the atmosphere was generally great and the kids really enjoyed themselves—which was what mattered most to us.
Location & Safety
* Safety: We saw no issues with crime, pickpockets, or drugs. The only thing we noticed walking near Veronica's in the morning was a few discarded gas canisters/balloons from the night before.
* Troya Beach: Lovely beach nearby with plenty of space. Top tip: Bring your shoes! The sand gets scorching hot on the walk down from the boardwalk. The local beach sellers leave you alone if you just politely say no straight away.
Final Verdict
We had a fantastic week, loved every minute, and would absolutely recommend this hotel to families. Don't let the negative reviews scare you off!

Thank you so much for sharing such a comprehensive review and, above all, for giving us the opportunity to exceed your expectations.
We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your week as a family and that you ultimately decided to keep your reservation. It is especially gratifying to read that both the children and adults enjoyed the pools, the entertainment, the food, and the facilities.
We are thrilled that your Junior Suite and its spacious terrace with sea views were among the highlights of your stay, and we also appreciate your comments about the soundproofing in the room and our location.
We will also share your kind words about the entertainment team, the restaurant staff, and the reception staff. We are pleased to hear that you found a wide variety of food options and that the children were able to enjoy their favorite dishes.
We have also taken note of your observation regarding the pool bar service, especially during peak times, and we appreciate that you pointed it out so constructively.
Finally, thank you very much for recommending us to other families. Knowing that you left wanting to return and that your experience was so positive is undoubtedly one of the best rewards for our entire team.
It will be a true pleasure to welcome you back to Hotel Alexandre Troya for your next holiday in Tenerife.
See you soon!

4 star? DONT MAKE ME LAUGH!
The food its typical all-inclusive multi nationality type offering breakfast being especially poor i know food is down to personal preference but it really is pretty bog standard. Half board may be better for people who dont drink alot.
The rooms ive touched on being very run down yet still trying to be "modern" hair dryer in the bathroom bit poor ladies bring your own.
Unless your in a "family room" or "panoramic room" your gonna be VERY close quarters sleeping. The nosie from the bars close by isn't actually that bad they've done a good job of insulating the rooms that I will say and the AC does the job.....(just) and for god sake make sure your door is actually shut and locked as the catches are at best crap. The door can appear closed but it not always on the catch and locked meaning a qucik gentle push and anyone can be in when your out. The shower however is absolutely fantastic i do rate a room by its shower and the room i was in had a brilliant mixer type shower with very good pressure (one of the few redeeming factors of this hotel).
The pool area two large pools one warmer than the other the colder pool being the rectangle shaped one but still acceptable temperature its a fairly clean area and the pools seem to get cleaned by dedicated staff every other day. There are lifeguards on duty from about 11 but if theres anything interesting happening poolside you better be sure they wont be watching the pool.
Staff try their best some try harder than others and some are absolutely useless.
If your going to be coming here expecting 4 stars you'll be majorly disappointed think of it as 3 stars at best and you'll be fine.
I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone under any circumstances at all at any price point I just wouldn't.
Sorry but there's so much that needs fixing/improving.

Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review of your experience. We appreciate the level of detail provided, as it allows us to understand which aspects, from your perspective, require further attention.
We would like to clarify that Hotel Alexandre Troya is officially classified as a four-star establishment and provides the services, facilities and standards corresponding to this category. We fully understand, however, that guests' perceptions of a hotel category can vary depending on their individual expectations and previous experiences.
Our location is one of our main attractions. We are situated in a central and very popular area, directly by the sea and surrounded by a wide range of leisure and entertainment options. Naturally, this also means that the surrounding area has a more dynamic atmosphere, which may not suit guests looking for a completely quiet environment.
Regarding the facilities and rooms, we are currently undertaking an active and progressive modernisation programme, through which we continue to renovate and improve different areas of the property. We also have rooms located on the interior side of the hotel, which can be requested subject to availability by guests who prefer a quieter setting.
With regard to our gastronomic offering, we provide an international selection designed to cater for our diverse international clientele. As you rightly point out, food preferences are highly subjective, and we understand that our offering may not correspond to everyone's personal tastes.
We particularly appreciate you highlighting the maintenance issues you encountered. Any maintenance matter reported to our team is attended to as promptly as possible, and the observations included in your review will also be shared with the relevant departments for further assessment.
Finally, we are sorry that your overall experience resulted in such a negative impression. We have taken note of your comments and will review them internally, as even highly critical feedback can help us identify areas where further improvements can be made.
Thank you once again for choosing our hotel. We wish you all the very best in your future travels.
Kind regards,
Hotel Troya

It is fantastic to know that our location, just steps from the beautiful sandy beach, the comfort and cleanliness of your room, the variety of food, and the evening entertainment all contributed to a memorable holiday. We are especially pleased that our staff made such a positive impression with their friendliness and welcoming attitude.
We can't wait to welcome you back for another amazing stay!

Better then expexted
We were all inclusive and after reading the reviews people were saying the food wasn't that good and repetitive, and the staff not very helpful, yes sometimes things were repetitive but they are cooking for a lot of people, but you didn't have to have the same every night, there was always a great choice of food to choose from. The staff were friendly and helpful in the restaurant, and always tried to sit us all together, as we were a party of 8,
There are 3 family pools and 1 adult infinity pool which I didn't get to use, but was told it was very calm and peaceful up there.
There was water aerobics and water polo every day in the pool and on the Friday before we left there was a foam pool party, which was a fantastic and fun end to the holiday, they also supplied a free cocktail for the adults and fruit juice for the kids. There was darts, and archery for the kids, by the pool every day.
If there was one little complaint, it would be the queue for drinks or snacks, you could be stood in the queue for a while,
The entertainment was ok, but not always the best. The area was lovely we were across the road from the beach and shops.
We never had any problem with the noise outside, except when Spain won the world Cup and the sound and atmosphere was amazing,
We would be very happy to return to this hotel.

Thank you very much for taking the time to share such a detailed review.
We are especially pleased to hear that your experience was better than expected and that our reception team was able to reassure you from the moment of arrival. It is wonderful to know that you enjoyed your family room, the spacious balcony, the cleanliness and the facilities provided.
We also appreciate your balanced comments about our all-inclusive offering. As you rightly mention, we cater for a large number of guests and therefore provide a broad selection of dishes, including different options and activities throughout the week. We are delighted that your party of eight was also well looked after by our restaurant team.
It sounds as though you made the most of our family facilities and entertainment programme, particularly the foam party! We are very happy that this was such a memorable way to finish your holiday.
We also take note of your comment regarding queues at the bars and snack areas, and we appreciate your understanding during busier periods.
Thank you once again for giving us the opportunity to exceed your initial expectations. We would be delighted to welcome you and your family back to our hotel in the future.
Kind regards,

Mixed Review
I’ll start with the positives. We were greeted by friendly, helpful front desk staff who made check-in quick and resolved every issue we had; we cannot fault them at all.
The entertainment team also did a great job, engaging well with guests at the pool and running enjoyable evening events.
The cleaning staff always had our room spotless and were always saying hello as you pass.
Where this hotel massively falls short is its restaurant and pool bar staff. I can’t overstate how reluctant some of them seem to be to serve you – don’t expect any warmth or genuine hospitality here.
They have no hesitation waiting until you’re nearly finished your meal to offer your first drink, or making you go to reception mid-meal because of an issue with your card. They’ll demand payment straight away, and make you feel like you’re the one at fault for something that isn’t your problem.
They just stand and watch you clear your own table, then watched you walk to their station to get a wipe to clean it, then watch you walk back to their station again to fetch cutlery – all while carrying on gossiping like you where the one doing something wrong. Don’t even think about taking cutlery from another table to eat your meal, as they’ll actively shake their heads in disgust… even though they’ll happily stand there watching you sit down without what you need. Want more than one drink with your evening meal? That’s a joke – I’d suggest pre-ordering your drink the meal service before.
For breakfast, they turn the lights out bang on half ten – no gentle warning, no slowly clearing food away, no half-closing the door to hint service is winding down. They just cut it off abruptly.
As for the pool bar staff – you’ll always come second to their own conversations.
I fully understand working in hospitality is tough in peak season, and keeping up high standards all shift can be exhausting. However a Hola or Hello with an upbeat tone is minimalistic but goes a long way. I fully understand everyone is there just for the money which I respect but it works both ways and when you pay a lot of money for a holiday it’s not nice. I feel like there seems to be absolutely no structure or management overseeing meal services – something that would not only improve the guest experience, but also make the staff’s jobs clearer and easier.
If there was just a little warmth and basic hospitality from these teams, this would be a really lovely place to stay. As it is, we were ready to leave just a couple of days in – which was such a shame. This is only my honest experience, and I can’t speak for anyone else’s.

Thank you for sharing such a detailed and candid review of your experience.
We are pleased to know that you appreciated our location, the modern feel of the hotel and the cleanliness of your room. We are particularly grateful for your kind comments regarding our reception, housekeeping and entertainment teams, and we will be happy to share your recognition with them.
We are, however, genuinely sorry that your experience with some members of our restaurant and pool bar teams left you with such a negative impression. This is certainly not the level of hospitality we aim to provide. Our teams work under the supervision of their respective departments, particularly during busy periods, and we continuously reinforce the importance of courtesy, attentiveness and a professional approach towards every guest.
Regarding the service procedures and meal times, these operate according to established schedules and the conditions of each reservation. We understand, nevertheless, that the way these procedures are experienced by a guest is just as important as the procedure itself, and we regret that on this occasion they contributed to your dissatisfaction.
Your comments regarding table service, communication and the handling of your drinks and guest card have been noted and will be shared with the relevant departments for review. We appreciate that you have taken the time to describe these situations in detail, as this allows us to identify where the guest experience can be improved.
We are sorry that, despite the positive aspects you mention, your overall impression was not the one we would have wished for. We sincerely hope that we may have the opportunity to provide you with a more positive experience in the future.
Kind regards,
Hotel Troya
