Nice old fashioned pension

Exceeded expectations. Quiet friendly 2 star. Great location and nice balance and outlook.
Beds need upgrading. Apart from the Todo bien! Would return.

Exceeded expectations

Situated in what was a quieter area of Calpe, this little pension is a lovely find. We found parking plentiful and free at this time of the year.
We were given a very warm welcome by the friendly owner who also pointed out on a map that he gave us some areas of interest. They have a communal kitchen which he showed us with all facilities should you wish to make something to eat. The room was very clean and comfortable and we had a large terrace which got the sunshine all day with comfortable seating. The room was also equipped with a small fridge and kettle, teabags, coffee and biscuits were replenished each day. We would not hesitate to return to El Hidalgo should we visit Calpe in the future.

Peaceful Easy Feeling

The hotel host was very pleasant, helpful and nice person. To us hotel's location was excellent and it took only about 5 minutes to the nice peaceful beach. The water was crystal clear and sea water temperature was 25 Celsius in the end of September. In the room there was some kind of retro feeling with old CRT Tv and rattling fan. That was not fun in the night time so we can't use the fan.
Breakfast was stingy to our taste. Maybe you can use your money better and get the foodstuff from the near market and make your own better breakfast in the kitchen of this hotel and still enjoy it in your terrace or the breakfast terrace next the reception desk.

The worst experience so far

We booked a room with one double bed on top floors. Instead were given with two beds on the second floor, though most rooms were vacant! Wi-fi signal strength was very low and sometimes connection got completely lost. There were some problems with electricity so that we couldn't charge devices. In addition, we were shocked spotting a huge roach on the wall. And yes, this place is not for young couples!

Budget accomodation

What a good choice in a budget hotel! We only wanted a place to rest our heads. Good bedroom, with fridge & tea making facilites provided. Great bathroom with hairdryer. Breakfast, continental style, toasts, coffee, orange and a little cake filled with chocolate - ample to start the day. Owner very friendly, spoke 5 languages - so no problem for most visitors. Bit unsure when we arrived as it was situated in a block of flats, second floor with lifts. Close to restaurants and with an easy walk to the beach. Sea view from terrace in breakfast room, lovely!
