Fabulous holiday
Ideal for solo, family or couples so if your looking for a clean no frills place to stay this is it just for the location alone.
The amadores beach is stunning but I’m my opinion not walkable as so hot but you can request a taxi at reception to the beach which is inexpensive

Good value for money with beautiful views
The views from the apartment were beautiful, overlooking both the ocean and the pool area. The room itself was simple, but perfectly adequate for our stay. There was no air conditioning, which I was initially worried about, but it stayed cool enough at night when sleeping with the windows and balcony door open.
We really appreciated having two sun loungers on the balcony, as well as a table with a parasol. There was also a drying rack for towels and swimwear, which was very practical. The TV offered English channels, and the refrigerator worked very well.
One downside was the very small hot water tank. If all three of us wanted to shower and wash our hair, we had to switch the heater back on several times during the process because the water quickly turned cold. One thing worth mentioning is that there was some noise during the night from nearby bars and surrounding hotels. It did not bother us enough to ruin our stay, but light sleepers may want to bring earplugs or consider this when choosing accommodation.
I was also disappointed that the pool area does not open until 11:00 a.m. The sun loungers around the pool were hard plastic, and extremely uncomfortable to lie on. However, the pool area itself was clean and well maintained. It was cleaned every morning, and there was a lifeguard on duty. Interestingly, the loungers on our balcony were much more comfortable than those by the pool.
The hotel was quiet and peaceful and offered good value for the price paid. There were toilets, a pool table, and a playground available in the pool area. There was also toilets by the reception area, and a luggage storage room for guests.
I liked the location, as it is only a short walk from Europa Shopping Centre. The walk down to the beach was long and steep, but taxis were inexpensive and easy to use. There is also a mini-golf course directly across the road, open until 11:00 p.m.
That said, I think there are other hotels in Puerto Rico with a better location and additional amenities such as air conditioning and an on-site shop, if those things are important to you. Babalu does not have a pool bar or a convenience store, but supermarkets are located nearby. There is also a taxi rank right next to the hotel, and the reception staff are happy to call a taxi for guests if needed.
Overall, Babalu Apartamentos is a good choice if you are looking for a affordable place to stay with lovely views and don’t mind sacrificing some comfort and convenience.

Amazing family holiday!!!
Family of 5 so had to have 2 apartments with children aged 11,13 and 16 rooms were basic but very very clean, bed and sofa bed very comfortable, small kitchen with a hob and a microwave but perfect for us as we ate out a lot or grabbed a takeaway of an evening to eat on the huge balcony, which had table and chairs and 2 sun loungers and a clothes airer which was handy.
It was very hot in the rooms as no fan or air conditioning which we knew about but after a few nights you do get used to the heat so didn't bother us at all just opened window or patio door for a bit of air. We were on 3rd floor the views were amazing.
The shower had really great pressure and enough hot water for 3 showers straight after each other, also had a powerful hairdryer in the bathroom too.
The pool was absolutely beautiful and cleaned daily, it was never over crowded and we always got a sunbed. The kids would be in the pool from when it opened until closing time which was 10.30 - 19.30 they had so much fun. Yes the Pool bar was closed which was stated on our booking but you had everything across the road anyway or you could bring your own drinks and snacks down as long as there was no glass/bottles etc plenty of litter bins to tidy up after.
Our apartments couldn't of been in a better location to the Europa centre, just across the road, everything you needed bars, restaurants, shops, takeaways, supermarkets and a pharmacy just up the road it was the perfect location.
We did walk down to the beach one of the days which took about 25 mins and walked back, it is manageable but a bit of hard work walking back up the hill so maybe wouldn't recommend for a family with younger kids or the elderly. Amdores Beach was really nice and the sea was crystal clear and lovely and calm, plenty of shops and restaurants just off the beach too.
Also note as I have read a few negative reviews the guy on reception was very warm and welcoming to us and very helpful.
So if you want basic, clean, fantastic views, big pool and a great location I would highly recommend.
Would we come back again, YES definitely!!!

DON’T BOOK (for a English)
Firstly we arrived around 00:30, front doors locked we had to wait around about 20 minutes for someone. After 20 minutes the security guard arrived to check us in, the communication between us wasn’t great hardly spoke English.
He took all of our passports and wrote all the documents Down, then asked us for a €100 euro deposit what we didn’t know about when booking we didn’t have any euros on us at the time, so he said we could do it tomorrow.
ROOMS
After checking in we was heading to our room 203 it was like walking into an oven.
Room was extremely basic, not very clean could do with a good deep clean and upgrading.
Cooking facilities was awful
2 hob rings
1 microwave
To me this didn’t fit the purpose as self catering only a small amount of meals you can cook. Especially with a young child who likes to eat chicken nuggets and chicken strips and chips….
We had to rent an air-fryer from a woman called Tracey on the Puerto Rico de Gran Canaria Facebook page.
Without this we could have struggled.
The next day We tried to rent a fan and move rooms but the guy on reception in the morning was very very RUDE to us.
POOLS.
Pool area was ok, does not open until 11, to me this is too late on.
YOU WAS not allowed
NO balls no matter what size.
NO floats/rubber rings.
NO jumping in
NO toys around the pool.
NO music all you could hear was a pin drop.
So all you could do is swim
what was not good for my daughter as she got very bored.
Sun loungers was really hard and very uncomfortable.
AERA.
Only a few minutes walk from the Europa centre. What had lots of shops and bars.
Taxi rank Down the hill about 5 minutes walk.
Roughly 25 minutes walk to the main town in Puerto Rico main shopping area.
Over all it wasn’t a good holiday at all. Hardly slept because of how hot the rooms was, as their was no fans left for us to rent we asked every day and was promised.
Worth a visit to Anfi beach.
Don’t book if you have kids. They will be extremely bored.
Apartments was the pits
Good if you want a cheap cheap holiday and not bothered where you stay.
