No air con/wifi in rooms & tips on Debrecen

My room was basic but clean, quite big and has lots of space and quiet too. It is more like students accommodation but the staff were very friendly and happy to help and they spike good English (not everyone does here). The room had a fridge.The only disadvantage was that there was no air con in the room and it was terribly hot. And the telly is all in Hungarian but that does not matter to me. There is no wifi in the rooms either but you have access in the main building. My accommodation was NOT in the main area but it was good value for money. I think it may be better on the main area. The hotel is well connected tram 3 and 3a to the town centre 5 and 5a to the train station (Budapest is 2 1/2 hours away and flights to Debrecen were much cheaper) and the stadium and park are close by.
Please note that public transport in Debrecen does not take cards or contactless so you will need to take florins with you. Bare in mind that the airport is very small but there is an ATM right outside...but buses are not frequent (I think once an hour) and i misssed mine as i was at the ATM. Also ATM will give you notes of 10000 or 5000 florins. The tram/bus fare is 400 florins (with £1 you get 330 florins so it works out quite cheap). Drivers don't usually have change and they suggest you pay the exact amount which can be tricky if you only have big notes. I was asked to get off the bus as they would not give me change for 2000 florins. City centre is quite pretty full of bars and restaurants. And I arrived just in time for tge flower festival. The atmosphere was good and i felt safe.

Terrible visitation

It's a small room and a big price. I don't like this place is mega terrible. The water it was not flowing it's impossible to do this and want 100€/people and/ night I will never ever go there again. My family said too is not to go here. Not for me

This cannot be called a 3* hotel...it is just a students dormitory

There is some kind of AC but, unfortunately, it's too noisy (you can't sleep if it is turned on)
The beds are very uncomfortable, the shower is disgusting and the room wasn't very clean. Even though smoking is not allowed in the rooms, we got a room which smelled very bad of tobacco. I would expect much better condition given the fact that it is called a 3* hotel. The breakfast is a joke. The coffee is undrinkable and you got only a few food options. The price (40 euros/night) is not reasonable at all for the conditions they are offering. I'm never going to book this one again in the future and I totally not recommend it.

This is a nice, modern and cheap hotel.
They have about 90 single rooms, 120 double roomd, 1 apartman.
The building is airconditioned. It is a central aircondition system, you can't set up it yourself.
The rooms are clean.
There are library, playing room for children, soccer and basketball courts, street workout machines.
It is possible to have breakfast and lunch in the hotel.
(But 500 m far is a very good restaurant , Zöld diófa. It isn't expensive and the meals are better than in the hotel.)
The cleaning personals are too loud in the mornings.
The Nagyerdő Zoo and Aquapark is not far. Public transport connections are not good, it id quite difficult to travel to the city centre.

A very good hotel

As a highly reputed hotel in Debrecen, the second largest city of Hungary, Campus Hotel has been receiving its guests since 10 August 2005 in the well-designed campus of Debrecen University. During the academic year the hotel with up-to-date facilities hosts students but in July and August it aims to provide accommodation to single or different groups of travellers, backpackers. It is just a stone’s throw away from Főnix Csarnok (Főnix Hall), the second largest arena in Hungary, and the swimming pool complex called Debreceni Sportuszoda. Moreover, Campus Hotel enjoys an easy access to the most beautiful green area of the city – Nagyerdő (Great Forest); the downtown of Debrecen and Aquaticum Medicinal and Bathing Centre.
