Value for money

The most beautiful hostel I have ever stayed in. The building is a traditional Andalusian old house with the typical patio, carefully decorated, which creates a very friendly and cozy vibe. Lucia at the reception was very helpful and kind during our stay. Also, the hostel provide a lot of staff (such as; free towels, equipped kitchen, breakfast) and is also very close to the centre. Also the small capacity of the hostel gives you a chance to socialise easily. It is totally a value for money!!

The best hostel where I stayed

No exaggeration, the best hostel I've ever stayed in. It has everything: it is beautiful, every detail very well thought out and taken care of, everyone has an exquisite vibe, you feel very welcome when you travel alone and there is always something to do. The team is very friendly and you feel like talking to friends, Fernando a love and I love the way the hostel runs! The location is 10, in an amazing neighborhood, close to everything you need to see if you go to Granada, there are many spaces to be, everything clean and spotless, many bathrooms, really nothing to say. The only bad thing is that I had to leave!! We will see you again, thank you very much for everything!!!!!

A Hidden Gem

I loved the ambience of this hostel: the interior decorations are very charming and it has plenty of nice lounge spaces for relaxing and/or socializing. The bedrooms are cozy, but you have curtains for privacy. I was also on the bottom of a triple bunk bed (three beds instead of the standard two), which was nice except that it was a bit cramped overhead (i.e., as someone of average height, I could not sit up straight without hitting my head). Everybody was very friendly and helpful. I liked that they offered a free breakfast bar and advertised new activities that visitors could join.

absolute nightmare!!

by far the most horrible hostel i have ever stayed in out of the hundreds i have stayed in over the years!!!. the very young staff (all in the early twenties) has absolutely no respect for their guests and they treat them like dirty animals. all of the staff permanently live in this hostel and treat it like their own personal private little vacation/ 24/7 binge drinking resort.. what the hell. doors are being slammed hard all over the place too all day long, staff just violently barges into the room without knocking all of the time and even pulling aside my curtain to talk to me without even a hello or anything!!! (i mean those curtains are there for privacy right??!? why even hang them there in the first place if you are just going to stick your head trough it whenever you want and without any warning or even a hello?????) or they just open the window on the side of the room to yell stuff at you. i mean it really seems you were all raised by wolves, zero manners or human decency it's absolutely unbelievable..! but the thing that shocked me the most is the big garbage bags FULL of beer and wine bottles even tho there were like 2 guests!!! in the hostel the whole time i was there.. and the staff actually BRAGGING about how they can drink a lot and not get even get drunk.... the place is completely deserted.(i am not surprised) UNLIKE the black swan hostel a few hundred metres away that are completely FULL at this time of year... oripando hostel is the most beautiful building i have ever seen and someone clearly at one time put a lot of love into building this place and making it absolutely beautiful. but these people don't even have the decency to clean the pool which is absolutely full of green algae and the stone floor of the garden which is completely covered in mud. (it doesn't look anything like the pictures!!) also all the pillows outside are absolutely soaked from the rain and have a lot of black mold spots on them, just like the hammock, i even tried to hang it to dry so that i could use it but they immediately put it back where it was so it would not dry so i could still not use it. even the pillows inside were all very dirty and greasy and they smell awfull.. the lounge chairs on the pictures of the hostel are not there there staff said 'they are only there in the summer months in june and july.... all the other chairs are horrible metal contraptions that are the most uncomfortable chairs ever. the lounge room downstairs has some kind of filter machine or something for the pool in the back which makes an unbelievably loud noise all of the time so you can not even hear each other speak and this is also where they serve "breakfast" in the morning.. whith cold hard butter . i am just shocked and appalled how this 'staff' (bunch of drunk kids really) can treat their guests so poorly and disrespectful like they are dirty animals and the building in the same way.. never experienced anything like this in my whole life :( i did not want to write a negative review at all but i feel like i really have to, to warn other unsuspecting travellers.. because they do not deserve this. in fact nobody deserves to have their hard earned vacation ruined by horrible staff members and hostel/camping owners. even though it happens to me all the time tho :(

Fernando the owner (that's how he identified himself) gives a very bad image and service at Oripando Hostel.

Fernando the owner (that's how he identified himself) gives a very bad image and service at Orioando Hostel.
He is drinking beers at the reception all the time. Sometimes at the last minute he is a little drunk and when this happens he tries to flirt with girls from the hostel.
when it offers services that are not included in the price of the room. such as flamenco show and free tourist visits. He tries to negotiate the price by demanding free tickets. He doesn't want money but he does want free drinks for him and the hostel staff.
It is a hostel far from the center on a narrow and gloomy street during the day and has too many beds in small rooms. a poorly soundproofed house full of stairs where you can hear everything that is said at the reception and the people who arrive at night to party.
There are other hostels closer to the center without having to climb stairs. Fernando has had problems with the neighbors due to noise and annoying construction.
